TESTS SHOW VOLVO AT 20 PERCENT LOWER COST PER TON

The Volvo EC350E and EC380E were put up against two industry leaders to see how each would perform in terms of productivity and fuel efficiency. The four comparable machines were equipped with fuel meters and put through the same test, loading trucks at maximum power. The results were used to calculate estimated time and cost to move 551,156 U.S. tons (500,000 metric tons) of material. Calculations are based on 50-minute work hours, 8 hours per day.

Siemens launches new gas turbine for oil and gas uses

Using the combined expertise from its acquisitions of Dresser-Rand and Rolls-Royce Energy business, Siemens launches the latest evolution of its gas turbine portfolio – the SGT-A35 RB. The unit addresses the need for more cost-effective solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry by increasing the power density of the topside power generating equipment, thus reducing the required space claim. The lightweight, aeroderivative gas turbine can generate up to 38 megawatts (MW) and is integrated into a compact, lightweight Dresser-Rand package, which is up to 30 percent smaller and lighter than Industrial RB211 predecessors.

Rolls-Royce and MTU products to be presented at OTC

The MTU Series 4000 T95 Tier 4 final engine will be on display in the Rolls-Royce / MTU exhibit at OTC 2017.

Rolls-Royce will feature the latest technologies from MTU and Rolls-Royce on Booth #2261 for onshore and offshore oil and gas applications at the 2017 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) from May 1 – 4 at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. Dresser-Rand business to supply turbine generator sets for Egypt's Zohr gas field

The SGT-400 model is considered the most efficient gas turbine in its performance class. This high efficiency lowers fuel consumption and thus operating costs.

The Dresser-Rand business received an order from Egypt-based Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel) for three model SGT-400 industrial gas turbines, including associated electrical generators. The total order value is in the double-digit million euros range.

New "brilliant factory" breaks ground in Ontario

Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Federal Minister of International Trade, joined GE global executives and representatives from Welland and the Niagara Region in a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of construction for GE’s multimodal “Brilliant Factory” in Canada. The facility is expected to create 220 jobs with operations commencing in early 2018. The first phase of the investment is US$165 million.
