Kohler recently unveiled an all-new range of large diesel industrial generators at a global launch event in Strasbourg, France. The company’s new KD Series includes generator sets in nodes between 800 kVA and 4200 kVA, which are powered by an entirely new line of G-Drive engines, also introduced at the event. The generators will be available globally under the KOHLER and KOHLER-SDMO brands and are designed to deliver extreme durability and ultimate reliability in a variety of emergency and prime applications. Targeted industries include: data centers, healthcare, water treatment, oil and gas, telecommunications, mining, and more.
The Dresser-Rand business received an order from Egypt-based Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel) for three model SGT-400 industrial gas turbines, including associated electrical generators. The total order value is in the double-digit million euros range.

Premier Kathleen Wynne and the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Federal Minister of International Trade, joined GE global executives and representatives from Welland and the Niagara Region in a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the start of construction for GE’s multimodal “Brilliant Factory” in Canada. The facility is expected to create 220 jobs with operations commencing in early 2018. The first phase of the investment is US$165 million.
John Deere Power Systems has announced the latest addition to its lineup of Tier 4 Final industrial engines, the PowerTech PSL 4.5L engine. Engineered by John Deere to meet the needs of OEM customers, the PowerTech PSL 4.5L with variable speed ratings is equipped with an Integrated Emissions Control system consisting of cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system.
HIPOWER SYSTEMS, a manufacturer of power-generation and power distribution equipment in the U.S. and Canada, has announced the debut of the HRNG 95 T6, the company’s newest gaseous generator. Powered by a long-life, heavy-duty engine from world-renowned manufacturer Zenith, the generator is capable of full rated-load acceptance in one step. Designed specifically to power new, more efficient oil and gas industry pumps and other equipment, the HRNG 95 T6 can run on both natural gas and liquid propane, switching from one to the other based on fuel availability.
Caterpillar Oil & Gas has announced the next generation of operator interface displays for Cat gas compression engines. The newly designed displays provide for complete engine monitoring of important engine parameters and conditions on an intuitive color touch-screen. In addition, these capabilities provide complete engine set-up and tuning, eliminating the need for a computer based service tool for typical start-ups and maintenance. These capabilities reduce the complexity of setting up engines in the field giving operators convenient access to the information needed to maximize up-time. The user-friendly displays connect to Caterpillar and customer control systems or SCADA systems via a Modbus interface – allowing for convenient interfacing of systems.
Caterpillar Oil & Gas has announced that a total of thirteen Cat G3600 and G3500 gas engines have been selected by China’s leading gas OEMs – Yantai Jereh Oilfield Services Group CO., Ltd and Beijing Jerrywon Energy Equipments CO., Ltd. These engines provide a combined power of 12,877 kW and will drive gas compressors in Yanchang, China. The Cat gas engines will be fully operational in October 2016.
In numerous compressor systems throughout the United States, highly flexible couplings are helping with more economical operations. These couplings keep process gas equipment generating pressure for transportation through gas pipelines, or for underground storage, remain operational throughout the year and changing power conditions.
The North American oil and gas industry has experienced unparalleled growth of oil production over the last five years. Since 2009, the U.S. and Canada have steadily increased oil production year to year. In 2014, the U.S. surpassed Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world’s largest oil producer, while Canada positioned itself to top China as the fourth largest oil producing country. Canada reported a production rate of 4.3 million b/d in 2014, compared to China’s rate of 4.4 million b/d.
ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has launched its new Warrior YardFeed 200 and MobileFeed 301AVS, which join the previously launched MobileFeed 201AVS to provide a complete line of portable wire feeders compatible with the Warrior 400i MV CC/CV and Warrior 500i power sources. Atlas Copco is expanding its DrillAir range with a new compressor designed to meet the demands of the geothermal drilling industry. The DrillAirX28 provides improved versatility and drilling speed in addition to a new engine, enabling users to drill two 200 metre holes in a single day at 30 bar of pressure.
