The lightweight, aeroderivative gas turbine can generate up to 38 megawatts (MW) and is integrated into a compact, lightweight Dresser-Rand package, which is up to 30 percent smaller and lighter than Industrial RB211 predecessors.
Baker Hughes' DEEPFRAC deepwater multistage fracturing service can save operators hundreds of millions of dollars in offshore developments through unprecedented efficiency gains across the completion phase. Using multiposition sleeves and patented flowback control technology, the service accelerates or eliminates certain steps of conventional multizone completion operations and enables rapid stimulation of 20+ stages. This translates into significantly greater reservoir contact, with an average OPEX savings of USD$30 to $40 million per well.
The Dresser-Rand business, part of Siemens Power and Gas Division, received an order from BP to provide rotating equipment for the Mad Dog 2 project in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The scope of supply comprises two DATUM compressor trains driven by Siemens electric motors for export gas service. The equipment is scheduled to ship in 2018, with oil production of the platform expected to begin late in 2021.

The DNV GL-led joint industry project, WIN WIN (WINd powered Water INjection), has completed its first phase and determined that wind power could be used to power offshore water injection. The project is currently moving into its second phase, which includes refining and testing the electrical systems, and investigating possibilities for broader applications. GE and Noble Corporation jointly announced a partnership to collaborate on the Digital Rig solution, enabling data-driven operational efficiency by using data analytics, with the target of a 20 percent reduction in operational expenditure across the rigs.Within the agreement, GE will initially deploy its latest marine Asset Performance Management (APM) system, powered by Predix*, on four of Noble’s drilling rigs. SIMMONS EDECO, a Calgary-based supplier of wellhead and valve maintenance, asset integrity solutions and onshore drilling services to the global oil and gas industry, announced that it has entered into a framework agreement with EDF Energy to maintain its Gas Storage facilities in Cheshire, England.
Trelleborg’s offshore operation in Skelmersdale in the U.K. has been certified for the design of its Bend Restrictor Reaction Flange under the American Petroleum Institute’s specification for flexible pipe ancillary equipment (API 17L1 Ed. 1 2013). To meet customer demands, Trelleborg’s offshore operation collaborated with SubC Partner to design, manufacture and test a Distributed Buoyancy Module (DBM) for installation by a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) on to an FPSO’s 12 inch production riser in a steep wave configuration. By having an ROV installable DBM, Trelleborg and SubC Partner were able to successfully execute a world first offshore project, which succeeded in replacing buoyancy modules on a live riser, without shutting oil production.

Due to the different chemical makeup of HFC and HLP fluids, sealing materials proven and traditionally used with HLP fluids, though effective in HFC applications, do not necessarily provide effective performance or length of life in HFCmedia. Schlumberger Launches Industry-First Multiclient Wide-Azimuth Deepwater Seismic Survey in Mexican Waters, Gulf of Mexico
Schlumberger has expanded its Gulf of Mexico multiclient wide-azimuth seismic data portfolio by launching a new survey in the Campeche Basin. The acquisition of the industry’s first multiclient wide-azimuth survey offshore Mexico will cover 80,000 sq km using two fleets of WesternGeco vessels, including Amazon Class, the world’s first purpose-designed 3D seismic vessels.
