Nine Energy Service completes Magnum Oil Tools acquisition

Nine Energy Service, Inc. has officially completed the acquisition of Magnum Oil Tools International, LTD., a market-leading downhole technology provider serving the global oil and gas industry for over a decade. Magnum has a broad offering of proprietary downhole completions products, including dissolvable and composite frac plugs, as well as a number of other patented consumables.

HDD virtual reality simulator developed by Ditch Witch to improve training and safety

More than 50 percent of reported underground utility damages are the result of insufficient excavation practices according to the 2017 DIRT Report. The Ditch Witch organization, a Charles Machine Works Company, has introduced an industry-first Virtual Reality (VR) Simulator to better prepare horizontal directional drill (HDD) operators for safe underground construction through cutting-edge training technology. 

Festo PTFEN tubing tackles roughest jobs in process applications

Festo's newest line of FDA-compliant pneumatic tubing - PTFEN - delivers excellent high pressure, heat, corrosion and hydrolysis resistance required for harsh operating environments in many process industries. Made of polytetrafluorethylene, this extremely robust tubing is TSE-free, resistant to cleaning agent and not affected by challenging ambient atmospheric conditions. Microbes and other active agents and contaminants don't stick to polytetrafluorethylene, making PTFEN tubing easier to clean and ideal for manufacturing in the chemical and other industries.

Dow introduces new winterized biocides for fracturing operations

As hydraulic fracturing activity ramps up in colder locations across the United States to meet growing energy demand, harsher temperatures and environmental conditions remain a challenge. Providing the market with a cold-weather solution, Dow Microbial Control, a business unit of DowDuPont Specialty Products, has launched two new products within its AQUCAR Water Treatment Microbiocides portfolio: AQUCAR TN 250 LT Water Treatment Microbiocide and AQUCAR 7140 LT Water Treatment Microbiocide.

ADNOC and BHGE form strategic partnership to improve drilling efficiencies

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC or the Group) and Baker Hughes, a GE company have signed a strategic partnership agreement, that will enable and support the growth and development of ADNOC's subsidiary, ADNOC Drilling, into a fully-integrated drilling and well construction provider. As part of the agreement, BHGE will acquire a five percent stake in ADNOC Drilling. The transaction values ADNOC Drilling at approximately $11 billion. BHGE will be the sole provider of certain proprietary leading edge and differentiated equipment and technologies related to the integrated drilling offering, supporting ADNOC Drilling's growth. Together, ADNOC and BHGE will deliver more competitive well completion times, greater drilling efficiencies and better well economics, and will capitalize on new business opportunities as ADNOC Drilling grows through its new expanded offering.

New mud-sealing cement system introduced by Schlumberger

Schlumberger launched the CemFIT Shield mud-sealing cement system at the Society of Petroleum Engineers Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition (SPE ATCE). The CemFIT Shield system provides the industry's first zonal isolation technology specifically designed to improve isolation between hydraulic fracturing stages in long horizontal wells. 

Honeywell introduces high recovery cryogenic gas processing plant

Honeywell's UOP Russell business has introduced a new high recovery cryogenic gas processing plant that is 50 percent larger than other pre-engineered plants currently available. With a capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day, the new SC-30 gas plant employs Ortloff Recycle Split Vapor technology that can recover more than 99 percent of high-value ethane from natural gas.

New wireline trucks rolled out by Nine Energy Service

Nine Energy Service, Inc. has rolled out new, specially designed wireline trucks, unlike any other in use today. The new trucks, named SkyVIEW, were uniquely engineered to enhance safety and reliability to eliminate downtime and further improve successes in wireline operations. The new trucks will begin initial operations at Nine's Permian and Northeast locations starting in the third quarter of 2018.

Petroteq to test equipment for non-conventional oil production

Petroteq Energy Inc., a company focused on the development and implementation of proprietary technologies for the energy industry, announced an agreement with Cavitation Technologies, Inc., a company providing highly scalable and cost-effective solutions to various fluids processing industries. The companies have entered into a licensing agreement to test its equipment during oil production for workflow efficiencies and to lower its cost of production obtained through Petroteq's oil sands extraction process.

Halliburton's EarthStar doubles depth of investigation of current LWD tech

Halliburton has released the EarthStar ultra-deep resistivity service, a logging-while-drilling technology that helps operators map reservoir and fluid boundaries over 200 feet (61 meters) from the wellbore, more than doubling the depth of investigation of current industry offerings. The service delivers a comprehensive reservoir view so operators can eliminate costly pilot holes and sidetracks, make informed geosteering decisions in real-time and better plan future field development.
