Petroteq to test equipment for non-conventional oil production

Petroteq Energy Inc., a company focused on the development and implementation of proprietary technologies for the energy industry, announced an agreement with Cavitation Technologies, Inc., a company providing highly scalable and cost-effective solutions to various fluids processing industries. The companies have entered into a licensing agreement to test its equipment during oil production for workflow efficiencies and to lower its cost of production obtained through Petroteq's oil sands extraction process.

New fluid end design from Cat cuts common failure causes

Halliburton's EarthStar doubles depth of investigation of current LWD tech

Halliburton has released the EarthStar ultra-deep resistivity service, a logging-while-drilling technology that helps operators map reservoir and fluid boundaries over 200 feet (61 meters) from the wellbore, more than doubling the depth of investigation of current industry offerings. The service delivers a comprehensive reservoir view so operators can eliminate costly pilot holes and sidetracks, make informed geosteering decisions in real-time and better plan future field development.

Drilling companies reach agreement to combine under AKITA name

AKITA Drilling Ltd. and Xtreme Drilling Corp. are pleased to announce their entry into a definitive arrangement agreement to combine the two companies to create a leading intermediate North American land drilling contractor.  The combined company, which will operate under the AKITA name, will have a fleet of 44 high-spec drilling rigs with operations in major resource basins in the US and Canada.

All-terrain Link-Belt ATC3275 puts in the hours on oil and gas jobs

Cheyenne, WY-based BAR-S Services (BAR-S) took ownership of a new 275-ton (250-mt) ATC-3275 all-terrain crane from Link-Belt distributor Strong's Crane Service. In their nearly third decade of operation (founded in 1990), BAR-S specializes in erecting and dismantling oil rigs, supporting the oil and gas industry in northeastern Colorado and Wyoming. When not supporting the oil and gas industry, the company operates their new ATC-3275 as a taxi crane covering a 300 mile working radius. 

ProSolv line from Suez reformulated for greater sour gas scavenging

Sour gas in oil and gas production streams can increase production costs, impact employees' safety, endanger asset integrity and adversely impact the surrounding environment. To help oil and gas producers scavenge sour gas effectively, SUEZ has formulated a new version of  its ProSolv HS line to  effectively scavenge H2S without phase separation upsets that affect water quality or salt in condensate.

Delphi Energy wraps up successful winter capital program

Delphi Energy Corp. has completed its 2018 winter capital program including the Company's Bigstone Montney amine processing facility, the drilling of four (2.6 net) new Montney wells, and the completion of seven (4.6 net) new wells. The extended winter conditions have allowed the Company to get all seven wells pipeline connected to its facilities, with plans to have all the wells on production in the second quarter.

Encana, Keyera reach deal over Pipestone Liquids Hub and processing facility

Encana Corporation has reached an agreement with Keyera Partnership, a subsidiary of Keyera Corp., under which Keyera will acquire and fund the remaining development of Encana's Pipestone Liquids Hub and Encana's planned Pipestone Processing Facility. This agreement provides Encana with an additional 33,000 barrels per day (bbls/d) of net raw condensate processing capacity and 170 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of net inlet natural gas processing capacity. Keyera will provide Encana with processing services under a competitive fee-for-service arrangement.

Birchcliff Energy, AltaGas reach agreement for long-term natural gas processing

Birchcliff Energy and AltaGas have entered into a definitive agreement for a long-term natural gas processing arrangement at AltaGas' deep-cut sour gas processing facility located in Gordondale, Alberta. The new Processing Arrangement will be effective from January 1, 2018 and will replace the parties existing Gordondale processing arrangement. Under the Processing Arrangement, Birchcliff is being provided with up to 120 MMcf/d of natural gas processing on a firm-service basis, and Birchcliff's take-or-pay obligation is 100 MMcf/d. The term of the Processing Arrangement is for at least 15 years, subject to extension in accordance with the terms of the agreement.

Coupling designed to reduce well failures

Materion Corporation, an advanced materials solutions provider, recently introduced a new oilfield coupling that is designed to significantly reduce failures in wells that are prone to extreme rod string buckling and wear deep in wells. The new ToughMet 3 Valve Rod Guide Bushing Coupling (VRGB) is engineered to prevent tubing leaks by reducing metal-on-metal contact that results in tubing wear, a frequent cause of production interruptions in artificial lift systems.

Cat power selected to run well stimulation power module

Caterpillar Oil and Gas is pleased to announce a China Non-road (NR) Stage III 3,000 hp power module for the pressure pumping market. "SANY Oil Intelligent Equipment (SANY Oil) received this innovative package by the local Cat dealer LSH North in March of 2018 and will display a well stimulation truck using this technology at the CIPPE oil show in Beijing," said Alan Zhang, China regional manager for Caterpillar Oil & Gas. "This power module includes a 3512E engine together with a CX48-P3060 transmission offering a full Caterpillar well stimulation solution to solve China pressure pumping customer demand for higher power density."
