Butadiene. Xylene. Toluene. Sulfuric acid. Potassium hydroxide. Even the names of these hazardous chemicals sound dangerous. In addition to potentially harming the health of humans and the environment if mishandled, they have another thing in common: they are very expensive to produce.
Power management company Eaton has announced the new CMA Advanced Mobile Valve with Independent Metering, which offers manufacturers nearly endless possibilities to differentiate machine capabilities. The CAN-enabled electrohydraulic mobile valve features on-board electronics and sophisticated software algorithms, which surpasses industry standards for intelligence, capabilities, dynamics and control.
Up to 10 times faster than traditional fusing, the Victaulic Style 905 Refuse-to-Fuse HDPE coupling installs without the need to disassemble the coupling.
Data is paramount to the operation of many companies today. The more data that can be collected on any particular system, the more efficient it can be made. However, that can come at a cost – one that is prohibitive when it comes to lower-value assets.
Power management company Eaton has announced a new variable speed drive (VSD) pump solution that can provide up to 70 percent energy savings for equipment in the machine building, manufacturing, oil and gas and marine industries, depending on the machine duty cycle. The industrial pump solution, available in open- or closed-loop motion control configurations, reduces operational costs by allowing quieter machine operation, reducing or eliminating cooling needs and allowing for pump downsizing.
Blackmer, part of PSG, a Dover company that manufactures positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, and reciprocating compressor technologies, has announced that its SMVP Series Seal-Less Mag-Drive Sliding Vane Pumps feature a design that enables them to meet the need for zero leakage when handling expensive, hazardous and hard-to-seal fluids.
GIW Industries announced the success of a pumping solution that doubled the lifespan of wear parts in the operations of a major frac sand producer in the U.S. Midwest. The highly-abrasive frac sand mining process causes extreme wear, and pump parts typically need replacement every two years. However, with installation of GIW’s rubber-coated parts, wear life of the pump’s wet-end parts was extended to 3.75 years, when the parts were replaced during scheduled maintenance.
PSG, a Dover company and a global leader in the manufacture of pumps, systems and related flow-control technologies, is pleased to announce that it will be displaying a full array of seal-less pump technologies in Hall 8.0, Stand D37 at the upcoming ACHEMA Show. ACHEMA is the world’s largest trade show for the chemical-processing industry.
OPW Engineered Systems, part of OPW's Fluid segment within Dover Corporation, has launched the LQC Series Transfer Loading Safety Quick Coupling under its Hiltap brand. The patented design of the LQC (Locking Quick Connect) Series automatically prevents accidental disconnects when pressure is in the line. Plus, the LQC's advanced engineering and rugged durability allow the LQC to safely connect fluids for a wide range of temperatures and pressures – in-plant, through plant and out-of-plant.
With submarine pipelines increasing in diameter and extending into deeper waters and more challenging environments, design requirements for concrete weight coating do often not meet current needs. The result is inconsistent safety margins and potentially expensive overdesign and stringent installation requirements. DNV GL has now kicked off the first phase of a joint industry project (JIP) to address these issues and improve the understanding of pipeline concrete behaviour. The aim is to develop a design guideline that complements current pipeline codes and standards. The JIP is still open for participants.
The Style DLY Delta-Y assembly is a combination of preassembled Victaulic cast grooved fittings, rigid couplings and butterfly valves. The Delta-Y assembly is designed specifically for bulk cement/barite systems on offshore oil platforms and is also ideal for drilling mud and other associated systems.
Bryn Murray, vice-president, Wolseley Industrial, has announced the company has developed a new Meridian Double Isolation and Bleed (DIB) trunnion ball valve that is now stocked in locations across Canada.
