Lithium cell for MWD

Electrochem Commercial Power releases the MR125DD (patent-pending), a primary lithium cell ideal for oil and gas measurement-while-drilling (MWD) applications. The MR125DD is rated to a maximum temperature of 150 degrees C but operates most effectively between 75 and 125 degrees C, the range that covers most of the world’s actual down hole temperatures. The cell is an addition to the Moderate Rate family of products and available in the popular “DD” form factor. David Sugrue, product manager at Electrochem, said, “Electrochem’s lithium cells are well known as the power source of choice for applications where the cost of failure far exceeds the cost of a battery, like oil and gas. We found that the majority of our customers see down hole temperatures ranging from 75 degrees C to 125 degrees C, and as such we developed a solution that optimizes capacity in this temperature range.”

Opening New Windows into Remote Asset Management and Worker Safety with Satellite Communications

And, all of this is further complicated today with shifting supply chains and economic realities putting further strain on the bottom line.
