HB Rentals, the world’s largest supplier of temporary on and offshore accommodation modules expects strong growth in 2013 after completing a significant custom build project for Wood Group PSN.
The project believed to be worth in excess of £1,000,000 involved the firm designing, engineering and manufacturing a complex consisting of three separate modules that connect to produce a single living and work space on the Arbroath platform, central North Sea.
HB Rentals Eastern Hemisphere business director, Norman Porter, said: “This contract signifies a very positive step forward for HB Rentals and reinforces the strong growth we have seen in the past twelve months particularly in the North Sea where we continue to perform well.
“The customised nature of the project also represents a new direction for the company as we continue to see the demand for individually designed modules increase.”
The project demonstrates the kind of custom build solutions the company caters for and is the first since its move to new facilities in Sauchen, Aberdeenshire last year with the firm anticipating a rise in similar projects.
Mr Porter continued, “This contract establishes HB Rentals as a key player in the market for tailored modular builds with our new base providing us with increased capability and capacity to offer this kind of option to our existing and prospective customers.”
The three modules, specially engineered to minimise offshore disruption, took more than 4000 man-hours to build and weigh in at a combined 34 tonnes providing workers with a meeting room, ten-station office, permit and gym facilities.
Built to the highest safety standards and rated as a zone two living space by government standard ATEX the complex, when integrated, will produce a single fully outfitted living and working space with safe access to the existing accommodation.
The project will be delivered later this year to the Arbroath platform,in the Montrose field, located 130 miles east of Aberdeen, where Wood Group PSN delivers engineering & modifications services to Talisman Sinopec UK.

No matter the job, durability, comfort and compliancy are key work wear characteristics that are crucial for workers to stay comfortable on the job site – especially for those workers who are required to wear flame-resistant (FR) work wear. Over the years, FR work wear has developed a reputation of being “hot and heavy” on the job. The good news is that no matter the season, Carhartt’s FR work wear line offers workers product options in durable lightweight, mid-weight and heavy-weight work pants, jeans, tops, sweats, jackets, bibs and coveralls, all made from inherently FR fabrics to keep workers comfortable and compliant.
