Siemens shows innovative oil and gas technologies at TPS in Houston
Siemens will showcase its comprehensive oil and gas solutions and services at the upcoming Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium (TPS), September 18 - 20, 2018 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX.
Oil and gas companies have some of the most complex physical and technical operational challenges of any business on the planet. To manage risks, control costs and optimize asset performance, oil and gas operators increasingly rely on digital technologies and analytics to improve efficiencies and safety for all aspects of oil and gas production, and distribution and use. Leveraging 170 years of technological and engineering expertise, with extensive experience in operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), Siemens suite of innovative technologies deliver cutting-edge hard and software capabilities for equipment and solutions that enhance efficiency, predictability, reliability, and safety to its customers.
Siemens executives and experts will be on-site to discuss recent projects utilizing a wide-range of digitally enhanced technologies and solutions, including gas turbine packages for all four FPSO projects that went to contract in the last year. Siemens technology for FPSO projects includes SGT-750 compression trains with DATUM compressors for an FPSO in the Barents Sea, SGT-400 gas turbine generators and electric motor-driven (EMD) DATUM compressors for an FPSO in the Mediterranean, and SGT-A35 gas turbine generators and SGT-A35 compression trains with DATUM compressors for two FPSO projects off the coast of Brazil. Siemens also supplied aeroderivative SGT-A35 gas turbine and associated auxiliary systems for Nova Gas Transmission Ltd. pipeline expansion.
The Siemens booth will feature key OT and IT solutions for the oil and gas industry, including a virtual reality demonstration of DATUM® centrifugal compressor technology which is designed for efficiency, reliability and easy maintenance; presentations on the SGT-300, SGT-400, and SGT-750 industrial gas turbines and the SGT-A35 aeroderivative turbine which are designed for today's dynamic energy market environment and to fulfill a wide spectrum of applications to deliver efficient, reliable, flexible and low-emissions power; EMD compressors designed for efficient installation and startup for drives, motors, skids, automation, e-shelters, sub-stations, and transformers.

Industries such as construction, mining, energy, utilities and forestry, face many challenges when it comes to tracking assets and employees. Equipment often has to be transferred between locations, or monitored while it is dormant during off seasons. Lone workers may have to travel long distances or visit multiple sites during the course of their activities. And, all of this is further complicated today with shifting supply chains and economic realities putting further strain on the bottom line.
