Quartzdyne unveiled updated Gen2 memory tools at OTC
Quartzdyne, Inc., a producer of pressure transducers for the oil and gas industry, introduced its Gen2 Quartz and Piezo Memory Tools at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC).
"Quartzdyne introduced its Quartz and Piezo Memory Tools in 2017 as an extension of our traditional pressure-transducer product line," said Quartzdyne General Manager Glenn Small. "Over the past year, we have worked tirelessly to incorporate improvements into these memory tool products. This release is the culmination thousands of hours of engineering, internal testing and field results to create a product that you can rely on for critical oil-and-gas recovery operations around the world."
The Gen2 Quartz and Piezo Memory Tools include the following upgrades:
- Up to five times lower power consumption than competitive models, doubling the run time for quartz-based memory tools
- Smart Battery Tracking enabling more efficient use of battery packs, increasing confidence in and reducing the total cost of battery ownership
- Four new application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC) that are designed to improve reliability by reducing modes of failure, minimize power consumption and increase run time at higher temperatures
- Optimized Piezo circuitry for improved resolution; and an improved software interface for easy programming and the quick, reliable downloading of downhole data.
The improvements help further differentiate the Quartz and Piezo Memory Tools from the competition. These memory tools establish a new standard in memory-gauge accuracy and durability through their ability to monitor high-temperature and high-pressure surveys with a more sensitive response, while simultaneously detecting interference and buildup in standard operational workflows. As standard features, the Quartz and Piezo Memory Tools offer a high-accuracy quartz pressure sensor, 200ºC (392ºF)-rated hybrid circuit, welded circuit enclosure, metal-to-metal seal and a side-port connector for easy access.
