Baker Hughes' latest rig count shows upward spike across North America
Baker Hughes has released their latest rig report, with both the U.S. and Canadian industry seeing a major spike in their rig count numbers.
The U.S. rig count is up 15 from last week to 338 with oil rigs up 12 to 258, gas rigs up 4 to 79, and miscellaneous rigs down 1 to 1. Overall, the U.S. rig count is down 461 rigs from last year's count of 799, with oil rigs down 409, gas rigs down 50 and miscellaneous rigs down 2.
The U.S. offshore rig count is unchanged at 13, down 10 year-over-year.
Meanwhile in Canada, the rig count is up 9 from last week to 111, with oil rigs up 12 to 52, gas rigs down 3 to 59. The Canadian rig count is down 42 rigs from last year's count of 153, with oil rigs down 44, gas rigs up 2.
SCHEDULE CHANGE: Due to Christmas and New Year's holidays, the Friday, December 25th 2020 and Friday, January 1st 2021 weekly North America rig counts will be issued on Wednesday, December 23rd 2020 and Wednesday, December 30th 2020 respectively.
