Latest surge in North American rig count numbers comes to a temporary halt
Baker Hughes has released their latest rig report, with both the U.S. and Canadian industry seeing little to no change in their rig count numbers, with Canada showing a minor downturn.
The U.S. rig count is unchanged from last week at 397 with oil rigs down 1 to 305, gas rigs up a to 91, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 1. Overall, the U.S. rig count is down 394 rigs from last year's count of 791, with oil rigs down 374, gas rigs down 19 and miscellaneous rigs down 1.
The U.S. offshore rig count is down 1 to 16, down 6 year-over-year.
In Canada, the rig count is down 4 from last week to 172, with oil rigs down 1 to 100, gas rigs down 3 to 72. Overall, Canada's rig count is down 72 rigs from last year's count of 244, with oil rigs down 69, gas rigs down 3.
