Watch: 1948 video uses animation to share the story of gasoline

Some happy late-1940s carbon atoms creating a hydrocarbon molecule.

There seems to have been a philosophy in the middle of the 20th Century that went something along the lines of: "If you want to teach something to somebody, make a cartoon about it." This is a fine example of that theory: a 1948 film produced by the U.S. government and Standard Oil featuring plenty of animation which walks the viewer through just what gasoline is, how it's produced and how it works.
