Because the composition of natural gas changes over time due to changes in the natural gas reservoir and other factors there is a need to sample the gas to determine its composition. Sampling of natural gas to determine the composition is important for custody transfer and fiscal metering so that both buyers and sellers are confident of a fair transaction. Contracts are typically concerned with the BTU or energy content of the gas and the hydrocarbon dew point of the gas. There are many robust automatic gas sampling systems such as on-line GCs (Gas Chromatographs) in the field that can perform on-line sampling. These are systems are expensive, require frequent maintenance and are usually only justified when large volumes of gas are being moved.
The new PIE 525 Temperature Calibrator provides direct temperature calibration to all types of instruments such as transmitters, recorders, controllers, alarms, data acquisition and computer systems. The 525 will also read the output of any RTD or thermocouple in direct temperature units (F or C) or in mV or ohms. Compatible with all pulsed transmitters, the 525 is a superior replacement to decade boxes eliminating the need for conversion tables. RTD connections are automatically detected, 2 wire, 3 wire, 4 wire connection are identified and displayed on the 525 display.

An all new nickel plated aluminum enclosure is sealed to IP67 (waterproof to one metre) and meets a 500 hour salt spray corrosion test making the XP2i a true “all weather” instrument.
