Emerson’s radar level gauge optimizes separation performance with industry-leading top liquid layer measurement capability

Emerson has enhanced its Rosemount 5300 Guided Wave Radar Level Transmitter to optimize separation process performance and prevent costly product ingress by accurately measuring a thinner top liquid layer in interface applications. The Rosemount 5300, which is the market-leading guided wave radar for liquid level measurement (VDC Research 2017), can now also perform measurements to the top of a tank, enabling increased throughput and profitability. Additional new features provide greater ease-of-use, increased safety and enhanced performance in the most challenging level and interface applications.

Emerson formation evaluation software boosts understanding of conditions

Emerson announced the release of Geolog 19, the latest version of its formation evaluation software suite.  This release includes new display formats that enhance collaboration between subsurface specialists. This includes representation of zonal data as crossplot and histogram tracks so that geoscientists can better understand the relationships between rock formation pressures, stresses, and mud weights, for example. The release also enhances its data connectivity and "openness" features with direct streaming of wellsite information transfer standard markup language (WITSML) data into Geolog's geosteering application, expanded connectivity to third-party applications, including Petrel 2019, and the integration of Python scripts for enhanced customization with no separate installation.

Emerson recognized for comprehensive portfolio of control technologies

Based on its recent analysis of the global industrial valves and actuators market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Emerson with the 2019 Global Growth Innovation & Leadership Frost Radar Award. With more than 80,000 employees, Emerson is a global leader in supplying engineering technologies and services to customers in the industrial, commercial, and residential markets. Emerson's Automation Solutions business combines deep expertise and innovative technologies to guide its customers through digital transformation and enable game-changing improvements in safety, reliability, production, and energy management.

Emerson SolaHD power supply upgraded for more connectivity and wider application range

Emerson has announced a major upgrade to its SolaHD SDN 40-24-100C 40A DIN rail power supply that doubles the number of terminals available for improved connectivity to power multiple devices, while also stepping up its heat rating to expand the number of types of hazardous environments where the power supply can be deployed.

Redundancy modules protect against critical power failures

Emerson SolaHD SDN2X redundancy modules continuously monitor two power supplies connected in parallel. In the event one power supply fails, the SDN2X automatically changes over to the second power supply, eliminating the potential for single power supply failure causing an unexpected shutdown resulting in costly system downtime. Because the power supplies are decoupled via the module, the operating power supply doesn't feed into the failed power supply.

Water and steam detection system

Emerson's water and steam detection system is the world's first single controller solution to be certified to IEC 61508 for safety instrumented functions up to SIL 3. The Mobrey Hydratect 2462 Water and Steam Detection System is used in a wide variety of applications where the detection of water or steam is vital for safe and efficient plant operation, such as boilers, steam drums and steam line drain pots. This helps to protect valuable plant assets, prevent downtime, save costs and improve worker safety.

Non-contacting radar level transmitter

At a time when experienced personnel are retiring and processes are being run closer to their capacity, Emerson Automation Solutions has launched a new non-contacting radar transmitter that helps operators increase reliability and safety. The SIL 3-capable Rosemount 5408 Non-Contacting Radar Level Transmitter uses enhanced technology and Human Centered Design to deliver accurate, reliable measurement and ease-of-use, supporting greater worker efficiency and plant safety.
