Associated simulation software licensing awarded

The National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA) has awarded KBC Advanced Technologies (KBC) a contract to redesign and enhance the Linear Program (LP) model of NCRA’s McPherson, Kansas refinery. As part of this contract, KBC will utilize Best Practice industry standards to improve the data, structure, accuracy, and methodologies of an enhanced LP to allow development of improved refinery operating plans for the site. The KBC SIM Suite of kinetic reactor models running in a Petro-SIM flowsheet will be used to create accurate representations of the refinery’s units as part of the project. The Petro-SIM LPU (LP Utility) will be configured for each crude distillation unit and processing reactor unit to generate accurate, consistent operating yield and property data for direct entry into the NCRA LP model.

SIMULATION SOFTWARE

KBC Advanced Technologies plc (KBC) has released Version 3 of Petro-SIM, Petro-SIM Express and the KBC SIM Suite. Version 3 of Petro-SIM contains innovative ways to integrate simulation with key systems in the process plant – plant data information systems, LPs, relational databases and Excel. All are included as part of the basic simulation package. Case management and usability is enhanced with change tracking features – a first on this simulation platform. These change tracking features include: an Undo feature; a journal to automatically record changes; and case comparison tools. With this release, KBC also introduces a unique Knowledge Base – built-in intelligence that selects key results based on “Best Practices.” These features are all available in both Petro-SIM and Petro-SIM Express.
