Bearing and lubrication cartridge for ACHEs

Colfax Corporation announced its Lubrication Systems Company (LSC) business has developed a MistLock bearing and lubrication cartridge for Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHEs) used in refineries, power plants and petrochemical plants. ACHEs use fast-rotating fans to remove heat from process fluids and transfer it to the surrounding air.

World’s largest three-screw crude oil pipeline pump

Colfax Corporation has begun production of the world’s largest rotary positive displacement three-screw crude oil pump. The Imo 8L-912Y pump can be installed on pipelines up to 24 inches in diameter and can cost-effectively transport more than 85,000 barrels of oil per day at pressures to 2,000 pounds per square inch. “We’ve been getting more requests for larger crude oil transport pumps, so we developed the 8L-912Y after consultation with our customers,” said John A. Young, president and CEO of Colfax. “The crude oil transport infrastructure is being updated to accommodate the movement of heavy crude from onshore and offshore oilfields to downstream operations. Transporting more viscous fluids with rotary positive displacement screw pumps saves energy and reduces costs compared to using centrifugal pumps for the same job. As a result, oil companies and pipeline operators are retrofitting older pipeline booster stations and, where necessary, building new pipeline networks using rotary positive displacement screw pumps to move the heavier crude oil to end markets.”

Fluid-handling for crude oil transport

Colfax Corporation has unveiled a new approach to handling high- and low-viscosity fluids that require high pressure boosts in the transport of crude oil. The Colfax line of rotary positive-displacement screw pumps not only delivers the reliability required in crude oil transport applications but responds to growing oil and gas industry demands for higher energy efficiency and greater environmental responsibility. The hydraulic principle behind screw pump operation delivers both high volumetric and high overall operating efficiencies. It also offers long mean time between repairs and ease-of-maintenance features for field servicing. These combine to maximize operational uptime.

The Imo TX2020 intelligent concept pump has the ability to monitor its performance, adjust to changing conditions and order its own replacement parts – all without human supervision. The TX2020 concept pump holds much promise for remote pipeline locations or power plants and other facilities that need to operate at high capacity. The TX2020 concept pump continually monitors flow rate, pressure, liquid viscosity (thickness) and energy consumption. If it determines adjustment is necessary to maintain flow, it can change speed or heat the liquid, to lower its viscosity. Imo TX2020 concept pump software includes a preventive maintenance calendar and – based on foreseen needs or detected problems – the ability to determine which parts need replacement and issue a purchase order for them.
