U.S. natural gas production set a record high in February

Natural gas production in the lower 48 United States averaged 73.3 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in February, which is up nearly 1.4 Bcf/d, compared to the January average, according to Platts Bentek, an analytics and forecasting unit of Platts. This is the highest production on record since Platts Bentek began tracking the data in 2005. On a month-over-month basis, February natural gas production was up nearly 2% from January.

U.S. natural gas production rose slightly in January

Natural gas production in the lower 48 United States averaged 71.5 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in January, which is up nearly 0.5 Bcf/d, compared to the December average, according to Platts Bentek, an analytics and forecasting unit of Platts, the leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy. On a month-over-month basis, January natural gas production was up less than 1% from December.

Exports Are Last Viable Outlet for U.S. Crude Oil Oversupply: Platts’ Bentek Energy

Current policies that limit exports of domestically produced U.S. crude oil could end the staggering growth of North America’s oil sector amid the recent “shale boom,” according to “Exports: Last Demand Standing,” a new study just released by Platts analytics and forecasting unit Bentek Energy*. It concludes that unrestricted global exports appear to be the only immediate outlet for surging supply as the U.S. reaches domestic demand capacity.
